The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022)

Image
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent By Mary Cooke Starring: Nicolas Cage, Pedro Pascal, and Sharon Horgan  Directed by: Tom Gormican Production Rating: 7/10 Narrative Rating: 6/10 🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥 .5 Cameras  No Copyright Infringement Intended  Meme’d and delicious, Nic Cage’s satirical meta-comedic-bond-movie-turned-bromance blockbuster takes you through a loosely tied-together piece of plot, with the characters leading the way through, but hey, it’s a fun adventure anyway. TikTok made that one scene famous (if you know, you know), which I actually saw before the movie came out, so I had to go watch the whole thing, and Nicolas Cage seems to happily lean into, or perhaps just gave up trying to fight, the internet’s obsession with making memes out of everything he does. At heart, though, it’s really an ode to Nic Cage’s career of playing Nic Cage whilst playing Nick Cage. This tongue-in-cheek walkthrough of some of Nic Cage’s most iconic, well-loved roles felt at times ...

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 By Emily Hubbard  James Gunn’s beloved superhero trilogy draws to a satisfying close that still manages to stand out from other superhero films. 4/5 Cameras 🎥🎥🎥🎥   Directed by: James Gunn Starring: Chris Pratt, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Chukwudi Iwiju, et al  No Copyright Infringement Intended  The MCU is now well into its teenage years, at 15 years old (with 32 movies), the franchise has transformed into a behemoth of entangled plotlines spanning an entire galaxy. At one edge we have The Guardians of the Galaxy, back again for their third solo adventure, but will this entry give the audience the closure they were hoping for? We re-join the Guardians where we last saw them in their 2022 Disney + Holiday Special, at their new headquarters on Knowhere, trying to live a peaceful life whilst dealing with the aftermath of previous events. This peace is shattered by an attack from the previously teased Adam Warlock (Will Poulter), wh...

Evil Dead Rise (2023)

Evil Dead Rise By Calum Whitfield  A violent treat unlikely to win over those who fail to see the appeal of previous entries but guaranteed to satisfy fans. 4/5 Cameras 🎥🎥🎥🎥 Directed by: Lee Cronin Starring:    Lily Sullivan, Alyssa Sutherland, Morgan Davies, Gabrielle Echols, and Nell Fisher   No Copyright Infringement Intended To be clear right from the start, I love the Evil Dead. It’s easily my favourite horror franchise and quite possibly my favourite film franchise overall. Needless to say, this meant I was very excited going into Evil Dead Rise, and why wouldn’t I be? This is the one longstanding horror franchise with no bad entries, and the trailer and pre-release reports promised all the thrills and spills one could want from an Evil Dead film. Did it deliver? Without any doubt. The film dives straight in with a pre-title sequence that tells its audience exactly what it’s in for culminating in one of the coolest title shots I’ve ever seen with our firs...
